Election Protection Volunteer Opportunities
NBA members can support voters through two key Election Protection opportunities offered with our national partners: the 866-OUR-VOTE Hotline and the Legal Observer/Legal Roving Monitor Program.

866-OUR-VOTE Hotline
Help voters get the information and assistance they need. NBA members can volunteer with the nonpartisan 866-OUR-VOTE Election Protection Hotline, operated through the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law’s Election Protection program.
Legal Observer/Legal Roving Monitor Program
Join an Existing Legal Roving Monitor Program
Current recruitment links are organized by state, but Legal Roving Monitor programs operate in specific counties or cities. Select your state below to view the available opportunity.
Help Expand the Legal Roving Monitor Program
Additional jurisdictions may be added based on local interest and capacity. NBA members and leaders who are interested in helping stand up a new Legal Roving Monitor program in their community are encouraged to raise their hands.
Launching a new program generally requires:
- 1-2 local program leads
- At least 4 volunteer lawyers
- Additional volunteers as needed based on the size of the jurisdiction and number of polling places within it
Programs are typically organized at the county or city level, even when recruitment links are listed by state.
